![]() 2) The app I used before jumped way too soon into large multi-layered layouts could never have existed in the real world unless some of the tiles were weirdly-weighted. Still, I like that this game has an alternative to the simple four-color ones. ![]() I’m kind of old school, liking the those with traditional HanZi (汉字) characters over burgers and fries, but that’s my taste. So why five stars? 1) Choice of tile sets. I’m not sure if I’ve ever written a positive review of a game only a few hours after downloading, but I am so very impressed with this one, I will rate this version early. It’s worth the irritating pop up games at the end of each puzzle because it doesn’t rip you off You can also change the cards to make it more difficult or easy for younger children. The backgrounds you can change for free are beautiful. I would have given the game 4-1/2 stars if possible. I would give them ***** stars because they do give you stars for getting through the puzzles and only costs you a single star to get a re-shuffle. Would be nice if you could pay a small amount and skip the ads. When I sit down to play the game, I want to go through the different puzzles without having to wait 30 seconds or more. Why I marked them down is if you don’t get all 3 stars in each puzzle, you get a pop up advertisement for another game. This is one of the better games because they’re not constantly harassing you to buy coins, tokens or something in order to pass the puzzle and get to the next one. (And no, I don't know any of the developers. They're the best free apps I've ever played, but it's worth throwing a few bucks at the developers for such spectacularly well-designed games. ![]() Get these, and then pay for the upgrades. There's one in *this* app (currently #1186, though they change the numbering as they add boards) that I'm convinced is unsolvable. While the only noticeable difference is that Titan is in portrait mode and Epic is in landscape - so it's just a matter of tilting the iPad sideways to play one or the other - I've managed to solve all 1650 boards available in Titan, but only 1649 in Epic. And the customizability is nearly endless. These games are so beautiful, so relaxing, and so addictive that I've spent eight months solving the 3300 boards they offer (plus the new daily games!), and I may just start all over again. I played a lot of mahjong games over the years before I found the two from Kristanix - and now I've pretty much stopped playing anything else.

![]() My win rate has improved significantly since then. Some of the weak ships in particular were disasters from a success standpoint I think it took ten tries to win with the Zoltan C ship, and almost as many tries with the Federation C Cruiser (admittedly two of the worst ships in the game). Originally, I would guess that I was winning somewhere in the 40-50% range of my games on Hard. When I go back and look at my early written reports on the website now, I can see some of the mistakes that I used to make, particularly in terms of how to spend scrap (the single most important strategic element in FTL). I was able to win on Hard difficulty very quickly, but at first it typically took choosing one of the stronger ship designs or getting some key breaks of luck to achieve victory. Along with the original Master of Orion, FTL is one of the very few games where I've never felt any need to do much in the way of oddball variants, simply because the core gameplay is already so excellent.Īs a result of playing all of these games of FTL, I've found myself slowly improving over time. It's a game that I can sit down and play for a couple of hours at any time and always get a challenging and exciting outcome, even after hundreds of runs. FTL is one of the finest strategy games I've ever played, with Hard difficulty level in particular almost perfectly calibrated so that the player has exactly enough resources - and no more - to win the game. The net result is that I wound up playing a lot of FTL, and it was gaming time well spent. FTL has a fantastic format for Livestreaming in particular, with a single run lasting roughly the length of a typical Livestreaming session (2-3 hours) and the viewers able to play "backseat driver" and second-guess decisions about where to go, what to buy, which event option to pick, and so on. ![]() During the gaming lull between my League of Legends burnout and the release of Civ6, I needed to find something to play, and FTL ended up becoming my personal title of choice. Still need Audacity on PC for background noise removal Many thanks to the developers for a an awesome tool! (Also of note: hubby is a pro sound engineer & musician & was impressed by this app's capabilities). It's stable, works fast, and easy to return to when ya haven't used it in a while. I'll work on a project for several hours straight, every few months. I'm an audio 'enthusiast', so I need more than just the basics, delivered in an intuitive format. I'm sure there are more advanced things this app doesn't do, but for my needs (fader, crop, cut/paste, pitch, speed, loop, eq, convert, etc.), TwistedWave works great! I use Document Picker to export to a variety of places, and often use the audio in slideshows or new videos. Plus, I've used it to edit single track files from my archive, as well as others people send me from other sources &/or need edited (that I pull from video, etc). I mainly use this to edit recordings made with the native iOS Voice Memo app.
![]() For a JRPG, this is nothing new, but compared to what is being offered in terms of story and characters in other survival games, it’s lightyears above and beyond anything I have ever laid my grubby hands on. There are also a great number of characters to find and meet throughout the islands you are sent to explore. The writing is great and shows the characters’ different personalities and quirks. Luckily, these parts are excellently executed. However, compared to pretty much any other game in this genre, writing and character development is very much in the forefront. Your browser does not support the audio element. Add this to your HTML5 document with the following code: The simplest way to implement audio into a web page using HTML5 is to use the new audio tag. However, for most cases, it's more than adequate. This is where HTML5 audio steps in to solve the problem.Īlthough HTML5 provides a standard for playing audio files on the web, it is still in its infancy and still has quite a long way to go before it can provide everything that other plugins such as Flash audio provides. Since the iPhone's notorious non acceptance of the plugin and the news that Adobe will no longer support Flash for mobile, many developers are looking at other ways to incorporate audio into their projects. Until now implementing audio into a web project has been a tedious process relying heavily on 3rd party plugins such as Flash. Tumi’s power pack Mod, meanwhile, is noticeably slimmer than most battery cases, making it a solid option for those seeking extra power without added bulk. There’s also an integrated kickstand in the speaker Mod, which came in handy while watching Netflix. The add-on gave the Moto Z’s audio a big boost, making it much more pleasant to listen to music without headphones. My experience using the JBL speaker was similar: just snap and go. After some toggling, the picture displayed on my bedroom wall looked crisp and clear. The projection size is automatically adjusted depending on the surface it’s being aimed at. ![]() To get the projector up and running on my Moto Z, I simply snapped it on to the phone, held down the projector’s power button to turn it on, and fired up Netflix to project TV shows onto my wall. Motorola is the latest phone maker to jump on this trend. ![]() This use of the Yabahuaca as little more than props is bad enough, but the only in-game interactions the player can have with any indigenous people is in regards to a nameless tribe that the player can kill (and possibly eat), again failing to see their presence as anything more than ‘things to be dealt with’. The Yabahuaca are relegated to being the backdrop of this white man’s struggle, and little is done to humanize them. There are multiple endings to Green Hell and the ‘bad’ ending has the tribesmen stand around Jake accusingly as he realizes that the disaster happening (not spoiled here) is all his fault - a common theme in typical ‘white savior’ storylines. ![]() The script indulges in all the worst tropes.įor example, he and his partner Mia describe the tribe as resorting to “barbaric” inoculation to describe the process the tribe uses to make themselves immune to a local poisonous frog, and they frequently discuss how easy it will be to ingratiate themselves with these “simple people.” It struck me as strange for two scientists (Mia is a linguist and Jake is an anthropologist) to be so dismissive and incurious about the people they are supposed to be engaged with. Sharing clumsy parallels with the fictional films like Green Inferno and Cannibal Holocaust, Green Hell’s story mode casts the player as Jake Higgins, a man who makes contact with an indigenous tribe known as the Yabahuaca. Unfortunately, while the environment is great, the story mode brings baggage that weakens the experience with what I can only see as racist content. Similarly, the crisp sound of rain falling through the canopy reminded me of rain-battered forests I’ve seen in real life. The first time night fell and the wildlife echoed through the trees was a memorable moment. The setting is also impressive - ranging from lush jungles to threatening marshlands, every area is beautifully rendered and brought to life with fantastic sound design. All of this is mechanically clumsy, but helped root me in the environment with an impressive level of immersion free of menus. If I wanted to light a fire, I had to take my backpack off and go to the right pouch. The notepad does not pause the action, forcing me to flick through pages to the correct entry. If I got leeches, I had to look down at my body and pick them off. I was impressed by the developers’ commitment to keeping everything as diegetic as possible, meaning there’s almost no content that is not rooted in the world itself, rather than in menus. This makes the evolution from ‘barely surviving’ to ‘hardened bow wielder capable of precise head shots’ feel earned. Green Hell does a great job alternating between challenge (for example, requiring the player to build a save point) and rewarding familiarity (properties of crafting and food types are consistent in every playthrough). Finally, a backpack is provided to store building materials, tools, food, and other paraphernalia. A notepad is utilized as the player makes more discoveries and levels up their abilities. ![]() To monitor these conditions, the player has a watch which doubles as a compass. I was already sold on the laptop and thought that PD12 was icing on the cake. The PD12 DE actually came with the HP Envy laptop I purchased. In the meantime, there is, as Barry suggested, Levelator, which will sort out your audio levels for now. It's always the far better option to go with the "full" version(Deluxe up to Ultimte) in Power Director, right up to PD14, that way you're not missing out on features which may prove vital for what you're trying to achieve, like normalising audio levels for a start. These DE or OEM versions can really restrict you in what you want to do when editing video. These low-end versions are otherwise referred to as, or are similar to OEM versions and, as pointed out elsewhere, lack several of the features normally found in the "full" versions normally bought as Power Director packages in their own right(Delux through to Ultimate). I am able to produce audio in my PD12 version, so I assume I'm good to go.īarry The Crab has clearly sorted things out for you! The problem with "Normalise" being greyed out and also not being available upon right-clicking on the audio track lay in the fact that you were using a DE version of PD12, the very bottom end of the range in each version. NOTE: This was educational for me, I did not know Normalize could work across multiple tracks simultaneously. I did just that with a 4 camera shoot in a very large room and the results were excellent. You can also run the new audio file through Levelator again if you think another round would yield better results. If you CAN extract the audio as a new distinct file, you can then run that audio file in Levelator, there are no settings or controls in Levelator, it just does one thing very well, it lowers loud sounds and raises meek sounds, and you end up with a new audio file with smoother more consistent audio levels throughout.
